Serving on the Board of Commissioners from 2013-2017 was such a rewarding experience. I felt it was time to get back involved in the town. I really missed being engaged with citizens and seeing the positive impact I made in the community.
I was born in a small town in eastern NC that is dying. I would never want to see that in Wake Forest. Does growth bring challenges? Absolutely. But is also brings with it opportunity. Therefore, I wholeheartedly support responsible and sustainable growth in Wake Forest because it brings economic opportunities, improved infrastructure, cultural diversity, and services. I believe that growth, when managed carefully, preserves our heritage, ensures long-term sustainability, and secures a brighter future for our community.
From the moment I moved to Wake Forest, I began getting involved in the town. I started out as a member of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and would eventually become the chair. While on the Board, I feel I was an excellent Commissioner. I was responsive to citizens and truly viewed my role as a public servant. In my professional life, I have worked in the association profession for nearly 25-years and understand organizational management, as well as have lots of connections in both state and federal government and a multitude of other professional associations.
